In its fourth sustainability report (available for download here in German), Intersport Germany gives an overview of the projects implemented in the years 2020 and 2021 and provides an outlook on its new sustainability strategy to be published end of January 2023.

The report and the future plan of the buying group cover six main areas of action: employees, member companies, customers, sourcing/private label, environment/animal welfare and society. For all of these pillars, the paper provides details on the respective measures and successes. One important topic is the Intersport brands and the associated procurement partners: Not only with the newly introduced Green Series label but also through the use of internationally recognized certifications such as the Responsible Down Standard, Responsible Wool Standard, Global Organic Textile Standard and Global Recycled Standard; the company aims to offer consumers transparency for responsible purchasing decisions. Another measurable positive effect has been achieved through the new logistics center that started working in 2019: 7,5 tons of plastic wrapping were saved, and 350 fewer truck journeys were necessary. The company is in ongoing consultation with its Intersport dealers in several committees in order to continuously adapt its sustainability strategy. “’Corporate social responsibility illustrates a fundamental attitude of the company that runs through the entire organization,” says Intersport CEO Dr. Alexander v.
