Nike is among the companies and organizations that have launched Transform to Net Zero, a new coalition to help all businesses reduce their carbon emissions in line with a 1.5°C global warming target. Besides Nike, the founding members are A.P. Moller - Maersk, BSR, Danone, Environmental Defense Fund, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Natura & Co., Starbucks, Unilever, and Wipro. Additional companies may join in the future. The participating organizations will be sharing strategies and resources to help speed up the process towards a “transition to net zero”. BSR is supporting the initiative and will be serving as the secretariat for the initiative. The work of Transform to Net Zero is led by the following principles : 1) Focused on transformation ; 2) Led by science and best practice data and methods ; 3) Leveraging existing efforts ; 4) Strong governance and oversight ; 5) Robust reduction and removal across the extended enterprise ; 6) Investment in innovation ; 7) Policy engagement ; 8) Transparency and accountability ; 9) Just and sustainable transition. The initiative intends to complete its work by 2025.
