This Friday, Sept. 24, youth activists and engaged citizens worldwide will strike to demand climate justice. Patagonia is supporting the protest to put pressure on world leaders and ensure that attention is paid to the people who are already experiencing the worst effects of the climate crisis first-hand. The U.S.-based outdoor company plans to close all its stores and offices across Europe to allow its staff to participate in the strikes. Patagonia is also inviting them to a sign-making party at its Munich store on the eve of the demonstration. This latest action by Patagonia builds on a long history of environmental activism. Since 1985, Patagonia has committed 1 percent of sales to preserving and restoring the natural environment. The company has donated more than $145 million to environmental groups. In 2019, Patagonia expanded its grant-making program with Patagonia Action Works, an online platform that connects individuals with environmental groups to take action on the most pressing issues facing the world today.
