Puma was named “Company of the Year” at this year’s German Diversity Award for its commitment to providing its employees with an open and tolerant working environment. Employees in management positions at Puma receive regular training on topics such as diversity, intercultural communication and inclusion, and there are regular events around the topics of diversity, anti-discrimination and equality. For example, this year’s summer party for employees at the headquarters in Herzogenaurach was organized with Christopher Street Day Nürnberg e.V. to celebrate Pride Month, diversity and inclusion.
Employees from over 70 countries work at the company headquarters in Herzogenaurach, and the proportion of women in management positions across the Group was 44 percent in 2021. “It is important for us that our employees do not bring an office personality to work, but we want them to feel comfortable with us as they are,” said Dietmar Knoess, global director of people and organization. “We are delighted to receive the German Diversity Award and will use it as an incentive to further stress the importance of diversity and inclusion in our company.”
The German Diversity Award is presented annually by the BeyondGenderAgenda diversity network in Berlin, this year to a total of thirteen winners. Oliver Bäte, CEO Allianz SE, is Personality of the Year. The Honorary Award in the Media category went to journalist, presenter and author Pinar Atalay, who repeatedly raises her voice when it comes to diversity, gender equality, or recognition of other social classes. Another honorary award (Economy) went to Belén Garijo, chairwoman of the executive board of Merck.
