Puma will publish its 2022 Sustainability Report as a podcast series to make it more accessible to a wider and younger audience. The Re:Gen Reports Podcast features representatives of the next generation from six countries. They summarize the content of the report in ten podcast episodes. The first three episodes will be available on all major podcast platforms from June 1.
The Re:Gen Reports podcast, as well as the recently announced Voices of a Re:Generation project, are a direct result of the feedback Puma received at last year’s Conference of the People. The goal of the conference was to discuss solutions to some of the fashion industry’s most pressing sustainability challenges with Gen-Z representatives, businesses and experts.
“At last year’s Conference of the People, we realized that we need to do more to reach the younger generations when we talk about sustainability,” said Anne-Laure Descours, Chief Sourcing Officer. “A sustainability report as a podcast has never been done before in our industry. However, we believe this is a necessary step to connect with Gen-Z and get more people involved in these important conversations.”
Each episode of the Report podcast will cover one of Puma’s 10for25 sustainability goals, covering topics ranging from human rights to sustainable materials sourcing. It will explain why the company has set goals in these areas and what progress it has already made. Episode 1 is about human rights; episode 2 is about chemicals, and episode 3 is about circular economy – all available on June 1. Another 7 episodes will be released weekly from June 8 to July 20.
The podcast series will feature representatives from industry associations, companies and non-governmental organizations urging brands to adopt and adhere to more sustainable practices. Guests include Shelly Han, Chief of Staff at the Fair Labor Association; Lindita Xhaferi-Salihu, Director of UNFCCC’s Sector’s Engagement in Climate Action; Nicole Rycroft, founder and Executive Director of Canopy; and Vanessa Brain, Traceability Manager at the Leather Working Group. In addition, to host each episode, Puma has secured support from a variety of up-and-coming entrepreneurs and sustainability experts, including Amina Shakeel, student committee member of the Fair Labor Association; Bertha Shum, founder and CEO of Hong Kong-based Earthero; Ripudaman Bevli, environmentalist and social activist from India, Melissa Tan, climate change and sustainability advocate from Malaysia, Yumika Hoskin, founder of Pecobag from the U.S., Diandra Marizet, an environmentalist from the U.S., and Monica Buchan-Ng, Acting Head of Knowledge Exchange at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion in the UK.
