XXL is donating NOK 500,000 (€50,500-$57,400) for the purchase of sports and outdoor equipment – such as alpine skis, sleds and skates – to BUA, a Norwegian non-profit organization that lends such products to the young. So far this year BUA has loaned equipment to twice as many Norwegians (about 100,000) as last year – with winter, the organization’s high season, on the approach. In addition, it has managed to elicit more funds from the national government to buy more equipment. According to its general manager, Monica Vogt, the organization seeks “to stimulate physical activity and reverse a disturbing development in society. About half of all 15-year-olds in the country are physically inactive,” she adds. XXL and BUA have entered into a agreement for the next three years.
