German retailer Kaufland, who acquired over 100 Real supermarket locations in Germany, is now leasing space to Decathlon at more and more of its former German Real locations. To date, a combination of the Kaufland supermarket and Decathlon stores are to be found at six locations in Germany. In a joint press release, the companies emphasize how well the product ranges of the two retail concepts complement each other in terms of assortment, target group and site requirements – and hint at further neighborhood projects for the future.

Within less than two years, Kaufland has recently created stores at various locations from 95 former Real stores. According to the company, this integration gave Kaufland the opportunity to enter into new strategic partnerships, such as with Decathlon. “Each individual location of the Real integration is a success story in itself. The Decathlon partnership is, of course, a very exciting one,” said René Wolf, head of leasing at Kaufland Germany. “Together, we are creating even more appeal for a sporty, fresh shopping experience and are pursuing our one-stop shopping concept.”
