Direct Golf, the British golf retailer, says it continues to outperform the country's golf market with the ninth consecutive month of increasing turnover in May, compared with the same month one year earlier. Its sales soared by 39 percent in April and again jumped by 34 percent in May. Its turnover is up by 22 percent so far in the fiscal year. The spike was supported by the launch of the retailer's 2015 catalog. Customers have also eagerly used the new trade-in scheme started in April, whereby golfers trade in their old equipment for in-store credit. Earlier this year the company opened a store in Southampton, as part of its plan to double the number of stores to 40 by 2018. It has also invested £0.5 million (€0.7m-$0.8m) in store refurbishments across the country to upgrade its apparel and footwear departments and to install branded shop in shops. Sports Direct bought an unspecified minority stake in Direct Golf last year.
