Kickz, the German sneaker and streetwear retailer, is planning a cooperation with a German startup, The Football Club (TFC), that specializes in NFTs. TFC, a Munich-based crypto-soccer-platform that is currently in beta test mode, claims to be the world’s first app-based provider of NFT games. Run by Ante Kristo, TFC combines a virtual soccer game with the trading of NFTs, digital goods that are supposed to be forgery-proof based on blockchain technology. Those who sign up for The Football Club create a personalized 3D avatar and can upgrade it with unique outfits. NFTs such as virtual shoes, fashion, and accessories can be collected, won, or traded for real profits. Kickz is TFC’s first brand partner, with more collaborations to follow, also with clubs, leagues and individual athletes, for example. Kickz and TFC are planning to launch the first joint items in early 2022. The planned product range will not only include apparel, but also various services and promotions, such as invitations to Kickz events or meetings with brand ambassadors. Denis Horvat, joint CEO of Kickz, sees the cooperation as an opportunity to open up new worlds of experience for the community: “Virtual merchandising is just the first cornerstone of how we will engage with our customers in the future. I am therefore convinced that this cooperation will trigger further impulses.”
