On Nov. 16, the delegates of the German Retail Association (HDE) elected Alexander von Preen as the new president by a large majority. The assembly of retail entrepreneurs thus followed a corresponding proposal made by the HDE board in June of this year. Previously, the previous association president Josef Sanktjohanser had announced his retirement after 16 years in office. Von Preen has been CEO of Intersport Deutschland eG since 2018. Prior to that, he worked as a managing director and equity partner for the international management consultancy Kienbaum Consultants International GmbH for more than 20 years. He has provided close strategic and operational support to numerous entrepreneurs in the retail environment as part of their transformation. In addition, he has held several supervisory board and association mandates in the business and retail environment, which he has already relinquished during his candidacy for HDE President.
