Munich, the Spanish company and brand specializing in sports and fashion shoes, reached record revenues of €52.6 million in 2021, marking a 28.71 percent increase compared to the previous year. Exports jumped by 28 percent to €6 million, primarily driven by Europe. Sales in Spain, its primary market, increased by 29 percent to €46.6 million. The other leading markets by volume were Italy, Germany, Andorra and the Netherlands. The company’s overall revenues in 2021 were boosted by fashion footwear, which grew by 60 percent, and a 46 percent increase in the fashion accessories division. Fashion sales currently account for nearly 61 percent of the company’s total turnover, while revenues from the sports line represent the remaining 39 percent. In 2021, sales of the sports collection were primarily supported by the padel line, which tripled from around €395,000 in 2020 to €1.4 million in 2021. Munich opened four new stores last year, located in Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid and La Coruña, bringing the total to 24 company-owned stores. Xavier Berneda, the company’s owner, said in an interview with Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia that the brand would open new stores at the El Prat (Barcelona) and Barajas (Madrid) airports by the end of 2022. Luis Berneda founded the company in 1939 as Berneda.
