Hanesbrands’ ability to order materials, make and ship orders, and process payments was negatively impacted during its second quarter due to a ransomware attack on the company’s information technology systems that was identified on May 24. The company was unable to fill customer orders for about three weeks.

The Champion parent says the ordeal since contained with “substantially all critical information technology systems restored,” cost the group more than $14 million in supply chain disruptions, approximately $100 million in lost sales, and a $35 million hit to adjusted operating profit during the second quarter ended July 2. Overall revenues during the period declined 14 percent.
