Hummel has unveiled Denmark’s official kits for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. All the details for Denmark’s new jerseys were toned down, including Hummel’s logo and chevrons, as a “protest against Qatar and its human rights record,” the Danish brand said via Social Media. The danish team will play in mostly plain red home jerseys and an all-white change top. The third shirt will be all black in what the brand has specifically described as the color of mourning. “We don’t wish to be visible during a tournament that has cost thousands of people their lives,” the brand said in the post. Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) rejected Hummel’s claim, emphasizing SC’s diligent work to protect the health and safety of the workers who built the stadiums for the 2022 event ever since the country won the right to host it. Denmark will play in Group D, which also includes the defending World Champion France, as well as Tunisia and Australia. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in the Arab state from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18.
