Intersport Russia generated revenues of €7 million in the short period from August to December that it was under the control of Kesko late last year, but there was an operating loss of €6 million, partly attributable to launching costs. By Dec. 31, 36 stores had been transferred to Kesko's Russian subsidiary. In Finland, Intersport's revenues declined by 2.0 percent to €170 million for the full 2011 financial year, with a drop of 3.9 percent in the last quarter. Adding K-Citymarket, Anttila and other operations, Kesko's home and specialty retail business booked 0.3 percent lower sales of €1,564 million for the year. It generated a sharply lower operating profit of €36.6 million. The group's total revenues went up by 7.8 percent to €9.4 billion. Operating profit rose slightly to €278.9 million, but the pre-tax profit declined to €282.1 million from €312.4 million the year before.
