Jarden Corporation indicated that its orders of winter sports equipment could drop by 5 to 10 percent due to the unfavorable weather conditions in the current winter season, which implies a reduction of about $30 million to $50 million in sales. The American company, which owns K2 and Völkl in the ski equipment market, along with brands from Coleman to Marmot in the outdoor business, provided this update as it reported a sales increase of 1.7 percent to $614.5 million in the fourth quarter of last year for Outdoor Solutions, the division comprising its sports- and outdoor-related assets. The impact of the poor winter was moderate last year and other parts of the division performed strongly, particularly Marmot and team sports products. For the full year, the outdoor unit lifted its sales by 10 percent to $2,772.1 million and its operating profit was up by 21 percent to $228.6 million (more in The Outdoor Industry Compass).
