According to a new report by the French Circular Fashion Federation (FMC), co-produced with KPMG, the European second-hand apparel market will grow from an estimated €15.9 billion in 2024 to €26 billion by 2030. This would reflect a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5 percent. The report was presented on April 3, 2025 at the French Fashion Institute in Paris on the occasion of the third edition of Circular Fashion Day, in the presence of the French Minister of Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
The research team identified four pillars as the basis of circularity in fashion: Reinvent, Reuse, Repair and Recycle. The report estimates that these pillars could in combination generate €31.3 billion and create 88,500 jobs by 2030.
France led the market in 2024, accounting for 26 percent of Europe’s second-hand fashion revenues. The country’s projected annual growth rate from 2024 to 2034 stands at 7.4 percent. The French apparel second-hand market accounts for 8 percent of the global market. Spain is expected to show the fastest growth from 2024 to 2034, with a projected CAGR of 8.1 percent.
