StockX has released its Big Facts: 2025 Trends report, revealing that running-silhouette sneakers jumped 45 percent year-over-year on its resale platform, while trading card sales soared 339 percent. The data point to stronger crossover between performance sportswear, lifestyle sneakers and culture-driven collecting.
The key highlights
Running silhouettes dominated resale: the Asics Gel-1130 topped the best-selling sneaker list, with running-brand entries for Saucony (+38%), Mizuno (+148%) and Brooks (+1,508%) all posting steep gains.

Performance basketball also surged: Sales of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro more than doubled year-on-year, and the new Ja 3 model led new-release volume.

Lifestyle-collectible categories exploded: Trading cards like Pokémon (+339%), Topps (+127%) and Magic: The Gathering (+700%) surged; camera searches spiked 1,919 percent.
Resale data signal opportunity for mid-tier performance brands
For sporting goods and performance apparel brands, the resale boom in running and athletic frame models is a strong signal. It suggests that demand isn’t going to premium lifestyle collaborations alone but also to core sport-performance models – brands like Asics, Brooks, Saucony and Mizuno could see secondary-market momentum feed primary demand. It also means high-growth segments beyond the traditional top brands are emerging, creating opportunity for mid-tier performance players.
Why this matters
Resale has matured into a meaningful extension of the sporting goods ecosystem. Brands must increasingly view the secondary market not only as a disposal channel but as a signal of model longevity, consumer engagement and future demand. Brands that ignore the secondary market risk missing key consumer signals and value drivers.
