Nike has appointed Noel Kinder as vice president and chief sustainability officer from Sept. 5. He has already been with the company for the last 19 years, most recently as vice president in charge of sustainable manufacturing and sourcing. Kinder was also general manager at Nike Vietnam, in charge of manufacturing operations. His years at Nike include several other leading functions in the company's footwear and apparel divisions, and in strategic planning and finance. He will report to Eric Sprunk, Nike's chief operating officer, and Tom Clarke, president of advanced innovation, under the supervision of the board of directors' corporate responsibility, sustainability and governance committee. Kinder is taking over from Hannah Jones, who has held the function for 14 years. She has become the president of Nike's Valiant Labs, an in-house new business model incubator. It was previously known as the Nike Innovation Accelerator, but renamed as Valiant Labs after the car from which Phil Knight, Nike's co-founder, started selling shoes at track meets.
