Oeko-Tex has now published its new regulations, which will come into force in the first quarter of 2023 after a transition period. Part of the new standards is a general ban on the use of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS/PFC) in textiles, leather and footwear for the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Leather Standard and Eco Passport certifications. In addition, the new Oeko-Tex Organic Cotton certification will verify the labeling of textiles made from organic cotton from April 2023.
At the same time, the Oeko-Tex Eco Passport certification will make the previously voluntary self-disclosure mandatory for all production facilities. Also from April, Oeko-Tex STeP customers will be able to use the BHive app to check sustainability requirements and chemical management in global supply chains. The new regulations are ready for download here.
The company will hold an online webinar for all stakeholders interested in the new regulations for 2023. The webinar is planned for Jan. 16, 2023 (English language from 03:00 - 04:00 pm CET) and will be available afterwards on the Oeko-Tex Youtube channel .
