The appointment places a fourth-generation Deichmann family member in direct operational control of the group’s sneaker and streetwear subsidiary, as Snipes moves from structural reform into a new phase of European growth.

Samuel Deichmann, a fourth-generation member of the founding retail German family and board member of the parent Deichmann Group since 2020, has assumed operational leadership of Snipes Europe with immediate effect, the Cologne-based sneaker and streetwear chain confirmed on Monday.

Deichmann replaces Dennis Schröder, who has led the business in Europe since January 2024 following the exit of company founder Sven Voth. Schröder will remain available to the business in an advisory capacity through the end of 2026, in what the company describes as a voluntary handover aligned with a previously agreed timeline.

In his own statement on the role, Deichmann noted first-hand exposure to Snipes dating back to 2016, describing the chain as “special” for its position at the intersection of retail, culture and community. The framing suggests a chief executive who arrives with a developed view of the brand’s identity rather than a mandate to redesign it.

Formally, his priorities are to sharpen Snipes’ positioning across European markets, expand the omnichannel operation and strengthen partnerships with global brand partners. Each of those objectives builds directly on the strategic direction set under Schröder — continuity is the stated intent.

Schröder brought direct athletic category experience to Snipes — prior roles included positions at Adidas, Puma and 11Teamsports before he was appointed general manager of the chain and subsequently elevated to the top European role. In his departure statement, he described a tenure defined by structural decisions that leave the business “more stable and fit for the future.”
