The highest-ranking sports-related company on Forbes’ annual “World’s Best Employers” list this year was Adidas, at number 11, with Nike two slots behind. The next ones down were Puma (47), Decathlon (82), Under Armour (355), Foot Locker (482) and VF Corp. (505). The e-tailers that offer sporting goods for sale ranked as follows: Amazon (2), Alibaba (50), JD Sports Fashion (158), eBay (164) and Zalando (367). The Spanish department store chain El Corte Inglés came in 416th. Some 247 of the ranked companies are in the U.S., 224 are in Europe and 208 are in Asia and Oceania. South Korea’s Samsung topped the entire list, followed by Amazon and IBM. If not for Amazon, computing and electronics would take up the entirety of the top 10. In all, there are 750 multinational and large corporations, with headquarters in 45 countries. The list was put together by Statista, which surveyed 160,000 full- and part-time employees in 58 countries in June and July, asking them to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family, their employers’ Covid-19 responses, and their employers’ image, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality and social responsibility. The responses were posted anonymously.
