Earlier this year, Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto introduced the world to the new Y-3 Atelier. Now, the German sporting goods brand and the Japanese designer present the first footwear from their experimental new collaboration: the Y-3 Itogo. The shoe consists of just five components, each highlighted by a number on the shoe: Elastic straps, knit upper, Boost midsole, rubber cupsole and yarn. Foregoing glue, each component is assembled in a hand-sewn process, resulting in a silhouette that can be completely disassembled by the owner by cutting the threads.
The name Y-3 Itogo is a nod to the innovative assembly process and derives from a thoughtful combination of the Japanese word for “thread” - “Ito” - and “five” - “Go.”
The Y-3 Itogo launches on March 16 in two monochrome colorways and is available worldwide at adidas.com/y-3, on Confirmed, in brand stores and at select retailers.
