Eleiko’s Open Collars has won a Red Dot Award for product design. Most barbell collars are circular, and must therefore be slid on from the bar’s end. Eleiko’s are shaped like the letter C, and clip on directly next to the plate. A lever locks each collar into place with little finger pressure. The collars are made of aluminum as well as rubber, to protect the plates and bar from scratches. The materials are designed to separate for recycling. The collars are magnetic, and will therefore cling to squat racks, benches and the like. Founded in Sweden in 1957, Eleiko remains family-owned and family-run.
