Helly Hansen has become the official clothing supplier of The Ocean Race. The 140-year-old Norwegian brand has been the apparel sponsor for teams competing in the race from its beginnings, in 1973. One of these was the Norwegian team itself, which made its debut in 1981. Another was the Ericsson team for the 2008-09 race, which Ericsson won. Over the years Helly Hansen has supplied race teams with jackets made with its Helly Tech waterproof, breathable fabric and developed consumer products from its efforts, such as the Ægir offshore collection. The Ocean Race is 38,000 miles long, with landings at 10 cities and six continents. The next edition will begin at Alicante, Spain, in autumn 2022 and end at Genoa, Italy, in summer 2023.
