Puma has revamped its legendary King soccer shoe, worn in the past by stars such as Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona, Eusébio, Lothar Matthäus and Pelé, by introducing new K-Better™ technology to deliver the same great performance without kangaroo leather. The new King’s upper, which contains at least 20 percent recycled material, is an entirely new non-animal-based material. Not only is K-Better better for the environment, but according to Puma, it has proven to outperform the previous King kangaroo leather in tests for grip, comfort and durability. Puma is so confident in the performance characteristics of K-Better that the company will stop producing soccer shoes with kangaroo leather altogether this year.

The new King is the successor to the Future and Ultra and also comes with a women’s specific fit. The new King women’s combines the latest King technology with measurements such as volume and instep height designed for the female foot. The new shoe will debut on the pitch with Granit Xhaka, Ingrid Engen, Nabil Fekir, Lena Lattwein and others.

The new King debuts in the Puma King Supercharge Edition, available on puma.com, in Puma stores and at specialty soccer retailers.
