With its “Naked Shoe,” a new ultra-light product that is supposed to give the user a sock-like or barefoot feeling, the Italian brand UYN (Unleash Your Nature) has made a first step into the world of road cycling footwear. The new shoe, which carries a recommended retail price of roughly €400, features a highly breathable knitted upper that adapts to the foot, embedded in a firm frame that wraps around the median and rear part of the foot, with no stitching and no tongue. The sole, which is made of nylon and injected carbon fiber, comes in two versions, a lighter one for professional races. UYN uses a double 3D-knit for the upper, with an inside layer made with an organic and resistant Natex yarn and a hemp insole. The Micro Tune Closing System, which consists of a single rotor for fast tightening and Click-To-Fit technology, uses a single button to adjust the closure. The road cycling shoe is already available at the UYN B2C store and selected retailers.
