Decathlon is stepping up its partnership with Franprix, a French grocery store chain, to help French people stay fit. As we have already reported (SGI Europe Vol. 31 N°15+16), the two companies teamed up in April to sell five Decathlon products – training mats, dumbbells, elastics, jumping ropes and abdominal wheels – for home use during the lockdown, at 70 Franprix stores in the Paris area. In a new pilot phase, launched on July 1, 15 Franprix stores in the Paris area have expanded the number of Decathlon products to around 100, focusing on five macro-areas: fitness (both gym and home), cycling, swimming, running and outdoor sports (football, pétanque, Mölkky). The first phase proved extremely successful, Decathlon said, with 100 percent of the products selling out.
