A new Nike flagship store will open on the main level of the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in a prime location close to the popular hockey rink.

Built in four phases from 1981 to 1998, the extraordinary mall was the world’s largest shopping center until 2004. Today, with 350,000 sqm of retail space, it is still the largest in North America and number six in the world. The mall features nearly 800 stores and other amenities, including the three major department stores (The Bay, Zellers and Sears), 26 movie screens and an IMAX 3D theater, the Galaxyland amusement park, the World Waterpark, an aquarium, a hockey/skate rink, an artificial lake and more than 110 restaurants. The world’s tallest indoor bungee tower is also located here, at World Waterpark.

Nike will replace a former Forever 21 store that was 2085 sqm, a 300-sqm store previously occupied by Volcom, and a 198-sqm space recently vacated by Kawaii Alley. The Nike location at West Edmonton Mall will be the company’s largest store in Canada.

Nike’s first Canadian flagship opened in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre (Ontario) in the summer of 2021 and spans 2276 sqm over two levels. Another store is currently under construction at the Montréal Eaton Centre in downtown Montréal, Québec, which will span 1858 sqm over two floors. Other flagships are expected from Israeli licensee Fox Group, which is spearheading Nike’s Canadian expansion, including a major location soon to open in Calgary’s CF Chinook Centre (Alberta).
