Circular services at The Stock Market at the Corner Store

British luxury department store chain Selfridges, owned by Central Group and Signa Holding since August 2022, has opened “The Stock Market at the Corner Shop” at its flagship on London’s Oxford Street, a month-long experience where customers can find out the value of what they already own, trade-in items for Selfridges credit and repair or recycle clothing and accessories. Inspired by the look and feel of the London Stock Exchange, the Corner Shop was transformed into a “trading floor,” an immersive hub for buying, selling, repairing and upcycling.

“Reselfridges stockbrokers” staff the “Trading Desk” and encourage customers to “go long” and add value to items they want to keep or resell. Services offered at The Stock Market at the Corner Store through June 10 include resale and secondhand shopping, repair and restoration, tailoring and alterations, and upcyclers in residence. All-around services from SOJO, SneakersER, The Handbag Clinic and Vintage Threads are available for this purpose, as well as a range of bookable services from specialists addressing wear and tear such as moth holes or bespoke customizations like ruffles and appliqués.

The opening of The Stock Market at the Corner store took place as part of Worn Again, a season of secondhand and all-around shopping experiences at Selfridges. Worn Again runs through August and explores ideas, collaborations and events to keep products in circulation longer and increase the pleasure and reciprocity of secondhand shopping. Selfridges aims to achieve 45 percent of transactions through circular products and services by 2030.
