The management of New Balance sees its sales expanding by more than 15 percent this year on a global basis – the first double-digit increase since 2004 – taking them up over the $2 billion barrier including licenses. European officials indicate that the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region will contribute to the growth “appreciably.” After two flat years, the company's sales moved up last year by 7.9 percent to $1.78 billion, of which $1.08 billion were generated in the U.S. One of the factors of growth this year will be the network of 157 retail franchisees in North America, whose sales rose by 5.7 percent on a comparable store basis in the first eight months of 2011. Products such as the REVlite cushioning foam and the NB Minimus line have contributed to the growth in the U.S. as well as in Europe.
