Two webinars will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 to discuss new strategic opportunities and trade complications for the sale of sporting goods in Europe as of June 2022, based on a new updated version of the European Union’s Vertical Block Exemption Regulation (VBER), which has been regulating vertical supply relations between vendors and retailers since 1999. The new regulations will change the ways in which brick & mortar retailers should be treated and incentivized by their suppliers as compared to pure online traders, creating new types of exclusivity, redefining the role of intermediaries like marketplace operators, but also creating some new challenges such as restraints on the information exchange between manufacturers and brands in dual distribution schemes. Jointly hosted by the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) and the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), the online panel discussions will be held at two time slots with Youri Mercier, deputy secretary general of FESI, and Jochen Schäfer, legal counsel of the WFSGI and FESI. Industry officials are invited to register here for the 9:00-10:00 CET time slot and here for the 16:00-17:00 CET time slot.
