Under Armour is launching its products in Brazil, starting with training and running apparel and footwear and some other sports-specific collections. They are being made available to the public through the Netshoes website and more than 70 other physical and online stores including those of Centauro, Paquetà. The Brazilian office, which was opened last year, is run by Marcelo Ferreira da Silva, a former president of Adidas do Brasil who previously acted as chief executive of Fototica, a chain of optical retail stores in the country. UA announced the launch at a press event in São Paulo earlier this week in the presence of UA's founder and chief executive, Kevin Plank, along with Chris McComarck, the Ironman world champion, and Georges St-Pierre, the mixed martial arts champion. Earlier, UA officials had indicated that they were looking at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro more than this year's World Cup to push the brand's presence in the country.
