The Australian state of Victoria has signed an agreement with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Insidethegames has revealed. The Games would be held in venues across the state. The Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, has confirmed that the state government is in exclusive negotiations with the organizing body. The exclusivity agreement, which is not binding, will last for two months, during which the Victorian Government and the CGF negotiate the commercial aspects of the event. Victoria previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2006, when Melbourne was the host city. The next edition of the Games is scheduled to take place this year in Birmingham, U.K., from July 28 to Aug. 8.
