In its 2021 annual report, 1% for the Planet looks back at the environmental projects carried out worldwide and provides insight into its financial situation. In 2021, the network saw growth in members, certified donations and supported nonprofits.

Specifically, the organization reported a 25 percent increase in corporate members, resulting in total revenue of $4.5 million, of which $2.45 million was spent on various programs carried out by nonprofit organizations. 1% for the Planet’s 4,815 business members account for the majority of annual contributions to programs, with 2,681 headquartered in the Americas and about 1,800 based in Europe. Interestingly, of the European partners, 1,008 are from France, while only 93 companies from Germany and 57 from Switzerland participate in the program. Members have taken action around the world, some of which are highlighted in the report. In 2020, the Danish apparel label Organic Basics and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) partnered to establish Turkey’s first regenerative cotton farm. A German porridge company purchased 14,000 sqm of land to develop a biodiversity area to protect wild bees.

1% for the Planet is an initiative of Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, established in 2002 and based in Burlington, Vermont.
