361 Degrees, the Chinese sports apparel and footwear brand, saw its comparable store sales improve by 7.0 percent in the first quarter, as it continued to focus on store productivity. The average retail discount reached 26.5 percent for the three months. The 361 Degrees Kids brand did even better, with an increase of 7.4 percent in its comparable store sales. Both the 361 Degrees brand and the children's version reported a channel inventory turnaround of 4.2 times. Orders for the 361 Degrees Kids brand, which is an independently-run unit, were up at a high-teens rate in wholesale value at the brand's trade fair for the third quarter. Footwear orders made up 51.9 percent of the value of 361 Degrees Kids' orders, compared with 46.1 percent for apparel and 2.0 percent for accessories. The volume of orders was up at a high-teens rate for footwear and at a low-thirties rate for apparel, but neither category saw any improvement in average selling prices.
