In a broad crackdown on the sale of counterfeit golf products, the U.S. golf manufacturers’ anti-counterfeiting task force (The Golf Group) has identified 9,769 clubs and numerous golf accessories, as well as more than 10,600 branded tags and labels, according to the Keep Golf Real website.
The items found and seized in China bore the brand names of XXIO, Titleist, TaylorMade, PXG, Callaway and PING. The raids, conducted on June 2, came on the heels of the largest-ever crackdown on counterfeit golf equipment in 2020, in which another 120,000 pieces of counterfeit golf equipment were seized and 15 defendants were arrested.
Since its inception in 2004, the anti-counterfeiting task force has caused the closure of more than 1,500 websites, and more than two million counterfeit golf items have been seized and removed from commerce.
