Blue Tomato has opened a second Norwegian store, after the one in Oslo, in the city of Trondheim. A third is due to follow in Bergen, and there are plans for a store in Rovaniemi, Finland, as well.

“Trondheim is located at the center of retail in central Norway and is surrounded by winter sports resorts. Bergen is Norway’s second-largest city with a huge catchment area, so it’s a logical next step in our expansion. Around 30,000 students live in the region, and there are two ski areas in the immediate vicinity,” says retail expansion manager Tara Kritsch in the company’s press release.

The online boardsports apparel retailer operates about 70 stores overall in Europe: specifically in Germany, Austria, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The website, available in 14 languages, receives 125,000 visitors per day, according to the company. Austrian snowboard champion Gerfried Schuller founded Blue Tomato in 1988. The retail company was taken over by Zumiez, the U.S.-based multinational specialty clothing retailer, in 2012.
