Champion's centennial marketing campaign is a celebration of teamwork called “100 Years for the Team.” This year, the company will be putting out a limited-edition “Century Collection.” It will highlight teams large and small through social media, a dedicated website, special product lines, events and other partnerships. A few such teams will appear in a video along with the NBA great Magic Johnson. Champion had designed the uniforms for the so-called “Dream Team,” which had Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan in its ranks and won the gold medal in basketball for the U.S. at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Champion has designed uniforms for a number of other professional and collegiate teams as well, and even for military personnel. The company also holds the patent for the Reverse Weave sweatshirt, whose hoodie version now figures in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The iconic American brand, which is enjoying a resurgence, is inviting teams to post their stories on social media under #Champion100 or directly to the Champion100.com website for a chance to be featured in its limited-edition products, appear in a centennial video and get a spotlight on Champion's social media and website.
