Decathlon has released its 2024 Non-Financial Reporting Declaration, detailing steady progress toward its environmental and social goals. The France-based global sporting goods group generated 3.15 percent of its €16.2 billion global turnover through resale, rental, and repair services, marking a 10.4 percent increase in circular sales compared to 2023. 

At the same time, absolute CO₂e emissions dropped by 2.8 percent year-over-year, totaling a 13.2 percent decrease compared to 2021 – despite continued revenue growth. According to the company, it now emits 6.91 kg CO₂e per product sold, down from 7.06 kg in 2023. The company aims to reduce emissions by 20 percent by 2026 and 90 percent by 2050, with its decarbonization targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative

“We’ve managed to decouple emissions from growth,” said Nathalie Jäger, Chief of Strategy and Sustainability. “That’s a sign our model of circularity, eco-design and supplier engagement is working.” According to the report, 65.4 percent of Decathlon’s priority suppliers now utilize renewable energy, and 60.7 percent of the company’s total footprint is attributed to raw materials and manufacturing.
