Goal Five, a women’s sports apparel and licensed merchandise brand, has named Suzanne Berg Currier as its new Chief Executive Officer. Berg Currier, who joined Goal Five as Chief Marketing Officer in July 2024, previously sat on the company’s board of directors and succeeds Ann Kletz, co-founder and advisor.

Berg Currier brings nearly 30 years of experience across media, marketing and consumer brand building to the role. During her tenure as CMO, she was instrumental in reshaping the brand, elevating product storytelling and deepening its commitment to serving female athletes through performance apparel designed uniquely for women. She launched the brand’s “Her Fifth Gear” stories, which highlight how achievement in sports can lead to success in other areas of life.

In addition to her work at Goal Five, Berg Currier directs media and marketing strategy at Woodside Ventures, a digital boutique e-commerce marketing agency based in Pittsburgh. She previously served as an advisor to Knockaround, the San Diego-based sunglass brand.

“Women deserve apparel engineered for their bodies”

“I’m honored to lead a brand built by and for female athletes of all ages, regardless of how you define an athlete,” stated Berg Currier. “Women deserve apparel engineered for their bodies, stories that amplify how sport has elevated them in life, and a brand that champions them as competitors. Goal Five has always represented that belief, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Jeffrey R. Hennion, Goal Five board chairman, said: “Suzanne’s passion for women’s sports is unmatched, and her track record in brand building and consumer engagement speaks for itself. As we enter a new phase of expansion, her vision, leadership and relentless drive make her exactly the right person to take Goal Five forward.” Ann Kletz noted: “From the very beginning, Goal Five has stood for something bigger than apparel. It has stood for opportunity. Suzanne lives that mission every day. She understands the heart of this brand, the athletes we serve, and the work still ahead to make sports more equitable for women everywhere. I’m thrilled to see her step into this role.”

Goal Five joins growing women’s sportswear movement

The appointment comes as women-focused sportswear brands continue to gain momentum in the sporting goods industry. While major athletic brands have historically designed women’s products as scaled-down versions of men’s apparel, a new generation of companies is engineering products specifically for female athletes’ bodies and needs. This shift reflects growing investment in women’s sports and increasing demand from female consumers for performance gear that addresses their unique biomechanical and fit requirements.

Pittsburgh becomes new home for brand expansion

Goal Five announced in July that it moved its headquarters from Oakland, California to Pittsburgh, establishing a Butler Street address. The relocation positions the brand for its next phase of growth as it expands distribution and product offerings.

The brand’s products are available through sports retailers including Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods and other national chains.
