Under Armour is joining the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol (Trust Protocol), reflecting the brand’s commitment to advance responsible cotton sourcing in the US. “Under Armour believes performance starts with the materials we choose. Where and how our cotton is grown matters,” said Aaron Driggers, Director of Sustainability at Under Armour.

Through the Trust Protocol, Under Armour gains access to verified, field-level data on key environmental metrics such as water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, soil quality and land use. Under Armour will begin using Trust Protocol-tracked cotton in all graphic tees of its Freedom collection – a line that supports military personnel, veterans and first responders – this autumn.

Launched in 2020, the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is a voluntary sustainability program for US cotton growers that brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurements to fostering responsible cotton production. The framework aims to drive continuous improvement in six key sustainability areas: land use efficiency, water use efficiency, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, soil conservation, and soil carbon. The Trust Protocol verifies sustainability progress through advanced data collection and independent third-party verification. Its traceability solution, the Protocol Consumption Management Solution (PCMS), enables tracking cotton from farms to finished product.
