Brooks Running has launched a new program reselling refurbished used Brooks footwear in the U.S.. The ReStart program will sell “lightly used” running shoes at three quality levels: “Like New,” “Great,” or “Good” condition.
The move is part of Brooks’ sustainable consumption strategy in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production. The four objectives of Brooks’ strategy include transitioning to a circular product, of which reuse is a key part.
Used shoes are now available on an independent section of the Brooks website, restart.brooksrunning.com.
According to sources, the recommerce program is in partnership with Trove, who have implemented recommerce programs with On, Allbirds, Lululemon, Canada Goose, Patagonia and Arc’teryx.
Earlier this year Trove released its first Brand Resale Index 2023, in which they estimated global resale is now worth $100 billion, growing five times faster than retail, and is expected to account for 23 percent of total retail by 2030.
In May, Brooks reported a 20 percent year-over-year sales growth for Q1, following a record-breaking 2022.
