The International Olympic Committee (IOC) hosted in Lausanne the first-ever Olympic Movement AI Engagement Forum on Nov. 12-13, 2025. The new event is designed to advance collaboration and share expertise on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sport. The inaugural Forum focused on “Supporting athletes, clean competition and safe sport.” Building on the momentum of the Olympic AI Agenda, launched in April 2024, the event served as a platform to strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing and to showcase pioneering initiatives and best practices.

Olympic Movement stakeholders collaborate on AI

The first AI Engagement Forum brought together stakeholders from across the Olympic Movement, including International Federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), Olympic Organizing Committees (OCOGs), and Worldwide Olympic Partners. Among the speakers was IOC Member Sarah Walker, who described the Forum as “an important step in building a future for sport that is both innovative and human.”

AI already transforming Olympic experience

The IOC and its partners are already channeling the potential of artificial intelligence to drive innovation in the Olympic experience and throughout the Olympic Movement. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, AI-powered tools were utilized to safeguard athletes from cyber abuse, while new technologies provided athletes with real-time performance insights. AI also helped improve the fairness and accuracy of judging and refereeing by providing precise metrics. Furthermore, AI offered fans immersive broadcast experiences, like multi-cam replays, and automated highlights generation.
