Sheryl Sandberg, who joined in 2008, is stepping down as COO of Facebook’s new incarnation, Meta. CEO Mark Zuckerberg writes in his “Note” of June 1 that rather than “replace Sheryl’s role in our existing structure,” he will be bringing the hitherto separate product and business groups closer together. Sandberg’s successor, Javier Olivan, will continue to lead Meta’s infrastructure, integrity, analytics, marketing, corporate development and growth teams but also take charge of integrated ads and business products. Marne Levine, chief business officer and head of partnerships, will be reporting to Olivan.
