Kane Footwear has launched Project Renew, a new upcycling program where customers can return used Revive slip-ons and have them transformed into yoga and changing mats. Kane is partnering with Lavarubber for the program. Customers in the U.S. request a prepaid shipping label on Kane’s website, and the shoes are sent to Lavarubber, where they are shredded into flakes that can then be upcycled into yoga mats. The flakes from Revive slippers are mixed with a generic Lavarubber blend. In exchange for returning their Revive slippers for upcycling, customers will receive a $10 gift card to the Kane website.
This year, Kane is launching a shoe in the Sunset/Earth Speckle color combination for Earth Day to celebrate the legacy of Brazilian sugar cane that inspired the product. The Revive slip-on is made with RestoreFoam, a plant-based EVA foam made from more than 75 percent Brazilian sugarcane. The foam stores CO2 captured during the sugarcane’s growth cycle, making it a carbon-negative material. The Earth Day shoe is available to U.S. customers on Kane’s website.
