Mårten Nydahl, CEO of Cycleurope Sverige, told the Hallands Nyheter newspaper in Sweden that the Cycleurope group achieved a turnover of nearly €500 million in 2014 and its profit increased €23.7 million, up from €18.6 million in 2014. As reported in Bike Europe, Nydahl added that Cycleurope moved some of its production of e-bikes from France to its facility in Varberg, which is intended to make the group more agile. Cycleurope previously had two production plants in France but the facility in Machecoul was acquired in 2013 by Intersport France, leaving Cycleurope with a plant in Romilly-sur-Seine. Cycleurope only sold about 30,000 e-bikes in Sweden last year but Nydahl anticipates that sales will rise to about 80,000 units per year in a few years' time, based on trends in other European markets. Cycleurope is a bicycle specialist that is part of the Grimaldi group in Sweden, selling brands such as Bianchi, Gitane, Monark, Kildemoes and Puch. The company has also been developing a network of partner shops under the Velo & Oxygen concept.
