Nike has announced several senior leadership changes: Whitney Malkiel, current VP/GM of women’s, will leave the company as of March 13 and be replaced by Amy Montagne, currently VP/GM, Asia-Pacific and Latin America (APLA). Montagne has been with the Portland-based brand for 18 years. Her current role of VP/GM, APLA will be taken over by Cathy Sparks, currently VP, Nike Direct, EMEA. Sparks has been part of the Nike team for 25 years and has a management career across four geographies and global responsibilities within the company.

According to Nike, the management changes aim to support the brand’s “consumer direct acceleration” (CDA) strategy; a digitally empowered phase of the company’s strategy for long-term growth and profitability, first announced in 2020.

“These changes will further build on our strengths and underscore our commitment to accelerate our women’s business, invest in our geographies, and further grow our top talent. We remain committed to transforming Nike faster to define the marketplace of the future and unlock the next phase of growth through CDA,” says Heidi O’Neill, president of consumer and marketplace.

It was also announced today that James Loduca is to join Nike as its new chief diversity, equity & inclusion officer.
