Nike’s current Managing Director of Strategic Business Ventures, Andrew Campion, is planning to leave the company on April 5, according to a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Campion, who has worked at Nike for 17 years, stepped into this very role in May last year. Previously, he served in other leadership positions at the company, including COO for four years and CFO for five years. He joined Nike in 2007 as VP of Global Strategic Planning, Global Business Planning and Market Intelligence. Prior to Nike, he spent more than 11 years at Walt Disney Company, where he ultimately served as SVP of Corporate Development.

According to the SEC filing, Campion will receive $2.75 million from Nike upon his departure. His replacement at the company as the new Managing Director of Strategic Business Ventures is yet to be announced.

After stepping away from Nike, Campion will shift to the higher education sector. On Jan. 8, the UCLA Anderson School of Management announced in a statement that he would be joining the school as Program Director of its newly created Sports Leadership and Management Program, which Campion co-founded.

Working in close collaboration with UCLA’s athletics program and drawing on the strength of Los Angeles’ sports and entertainment industries, the program at UCLA Anderson will afford ”unparalleled access to leaders across the ecosystem of sport.” UCLA’s history of 121 NCAA championships and 270 Olympic medals positions UCLA Anderson to take sports business education to the next level. Its programming will include strategic partnership initiatives with organizations such as LA28 to support the Olympics, innovative executive education courses with Real Madrid football club, and programs with Los Angeles’ 14 professional sports teams and 10 professional major league teams, which have claimed 30 championships combined.

Inspired by the purpose and promise of the program, the Campion family also made a generous donation to invest in its startup. “Shelby and I have long believed that education, engagement in sport and financial opportunity are what everyone needs and deserves to live their best possible life,” said Campion. “UCLA has had such a positive impact on our lives. We are now so excited to give back and help UCLA to provide inspiration, education and access to future generations of students seeking a career in sports,” said his wife Shelby Campion.

Campion also currently serves on the boards of the LA28 (2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics) organizing committee, Starbucks and the SpringHill Company.
