The US Soccer Federation has named Dan Helfrich, the retiring Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting, as its new Chief Operating Officer. Starting January 1, 2026, Helfrich will oversee daily operations and strategic initiatives from Atlanta, reporting to CEO JT Batson.
The US Soccer Federation (US Soccer) has made Dan Helfrich its Chief Operating Officer (COO). He will be coming aboard on Jan. 1, 2026, once he retires as Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting.
Working in Atlanta, Helfrich is to “oversee the organization’s daily operations, with a focus on optimizing business processes and executing key strategic initiatives to drive accelerated growth,” according to the federation. He will be reporting to JT Batson, US Soccer’s CEO & General Secretary.
Helfrich recently served as volunteer Chairman of the Next Gen College Soccer Committee, which worked in tandem with the federation on recommendations for collegiate play, released in October. He says that football has been a “defining part” of his life for 40-odd years, having been a player, fan, volunteer, parent and even broadcaster in the sport. Indeed, he has spent the past two decades providing play-by-play soccer coverage for Georgetown University. He served also, for nearly five years, on the board of Street Soccer USA, a charity operating in poor neighborhoods in 14 US cities.
Helfrich, 48, has spent his professional life with Deloitte, rising to the top from the Consulting Partner post where he began, in 2006. During his tenure he has led the firm’s US Government and Public Services practice, served as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, managed deals with tech companies, and run parts of the firm’s personnel department.
US Soccer was founded in 1913. It is both a nonprofit organization and football’s official governing body in the US.
