Shadow Esports, a leading provider of professional e-sports analytics tools based in Berlin, Germany, has developed what it says is an easy-to-integrate e-sports live ticker designed to help digital sports media provide e-sports fans with high-quality content. The free basic version of “Esports-Liveticker” includes a scoreboard through which fans can be informed about current matches and tournaments in the e-sports world. Through a monthly subscription, the basic version can be extended with additional premium features.
Currently, over 500 million people worldwide already describe themselves as e-sports fans. E-sports is particularly popular with Gen Z (10 to 25-year-olds), who, in turn, are increasingly difficult to reach through traditional sports media. Including e-sports in their own reporting often presents problems for these sports media. In order to create high-quality content, the respective journalists not only need an overview of which video games are currently being played in tournaments but also specialist knowledge about the sports games and the associated e-sports scenes. Expertise that is currently still lacking in many places.
Bonny Leyser, head of new business at Shadow Esports, explained, “Events in e-sports have evolved too quickly for many sports media. What were smaller LAN parties a few years ago are now global giant events with millions of viewers. With our live ticker, we want to enable traditional sports media to catch up a bit. Not only does it give fans a first overview of the most important events in e-sports, but journalists can also use it as a basis to create interesting and engaging content themselves. It’s never been easier to cover e-sports and reach a completely new audience.”
